WILL CBD OIL MAKE ME FAIL A DRUG TEST?

First of all, it is important to understand that drug tests don’t check for CBD. In fact, Quest Diagnostics, which is a very large drug testing company in the US, does not currently even offer a CBD test.

Knowing this, the simple answer is: No, CBD will not make you fail your drug test…. it’s not even tested for!

Now, it is important to know that just because CBD won’t make you fail a drug test doesn’t mean you’re completely in the clear.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is just one of around 400 chemical compounds in the cannabis plant. The more popular, and until recently better known compound, is that of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.

THC is the compound that gives you a high when consumed and is responsible in large part for cannabis’s psychoactive properties.

Quest Diagnositics, and most other pre-employment and sports anti-doping agencies do test for THC in their standard test. Because most CBD products contain a small percentage of THC they could cause a positive test result.

How much THC is in CBD Oil?

Most of the CBD Oil products currently on the market are what’s known as Full Spectrum CBD. This means that they come from the hemp plant and can contain a maximum of 0.3% of THC.

When we talk about hemp containing less than 0.3% THC, we are referring to what is called “full spectrum” hemp oil. Full spectrum hemp oil contains CBD as well as other cannabinoids and phytonutrients. This is where the 0.3% THC comes from, as THC is a cannabinoid. Many people prefer full spectrum hemp oil as taking all of the cannabinoids together seems to be more effective than just taking one. This is known as the entourage effect.

If you are in a zero-tolerance situation with your job, then you may need to reconsider using the product or test at home as each person's body responds differently.
